FID prioritizes safe water, sanitation infrastructure, and hygiene education to improve public health and reduce disease.  

Key Strategic Objectives:   

  • Improve water access via borehole construction and rehabilitation.
  • Promote gender-sensitive sanitation facilities.
  • Deliver hygiene education including menstrual hygiene management.
  • Implement Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) to end open defecation.

Approaches:   

  • Community participation in design and maintenance.
  • Behavior change communication tailored to cultural contexts.
  • Integrated programming linking WASH with health and education.    
  • Monitoring and feedback to ensure sustainability.

  • Reduced WASH-related illnesses.
  • Improved water and sanitation access.
  • Empowered communities managing WASH systems.
